e Repeat steps b-d for the entire document.
5 Move the paper feed guides on the ADF so that they’re
approximately 0.25"/5 mm wider than the document.
6 Place the document to be copied face down in the input
paper chute, putting the ends of the bottom 2 or 3 sheets
into the automatic feeder.
Slide the stack forward until it rests against the ADF sensor. The
sensor is a small plastic arm inside the ADF. The ADF can be
loaded with up to 50 sheets of A4-, legal-, or letter-size paper.
▲ Caution:
Do not feed any of the following through the ADF:
n
Paper with clips or staples
n
Paper with wet ink
n
Paper with folds, tears, notches, or curls
n
Paper with an inconsistent thickness, such as envelopes
n
Very thin paper
n
Paper not square or rectangular in shape
n
Paper smaller than A5 size or larger than A4 width
n
Tracing, coating, carbonless, or photographic paper
n
Items other than paper, such as transparencies, metal
sheets, or cloth
n
Important documents that must not be damaged
7 Close the paper guides until they touch the sides of the
paper stack.
» Note:
Skewing may occur if a gap exists between the guides and
the document.
